Sailing, Swimming, Tennis, or Bocce

There is always something to do at MIYC

The Club is open every day from sunrise to sunset from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and at other times for special occasions. Something is always happening. Our Club facilities include a four-season Clubhouse which includes a main Clubhouse meeting room, a commercial kitchen, restroom facilities, and a wrap-around porch. The Clubhouse is available for rent in the off-season by Club members. The bathhouse includes separate dressing room, shower, and restroom facilities for men and women, and a series of private lockers that can be rented by members.

Sailing and Boating

shieldsFrom our beautiful fleet of Shields to the 420’s and Opti’s, sailing is a big part of the club experience. Throughout the summer months our Jr. Yacht Club is always involved in some activity whether its hosting a regatta or traveling to compete, a full schedule of sailing is going on. On Thursday nights, enjoy the Shields Regattas. Always a great time had by all.

Boating facilities include:

  • Dock with electricity and water.  The dock is for member and guests day-time use
  • Finger-pier floating dock for small boat storage
  • Aa number of outhaul moorings for dinghy storage
  • Four boat moorings, located within 100 yards of the main dock, are maintained for overnight stays of larger boats for a nightly fee.

MIYC enjoys a reciprocity arrangement with other Yacht Clubs so that members of other Yacht Clubs are allowed use of the overnight moorings should they need a friendly place to stop for the night.  If you are visiting for the night, please contact the Club Manager as soon as you arrive.

The Club has a boat ramp to launch smaller boats, as well as an on-shore storage area for small boats.

Bocce

If bocce is your game, and even if it isn’t, join us for a summer of Bocce fun in tournament play or just for fun. It is a great way for members and guests of all ages to come together and have fun.

Tennis

MIYC maintains three tennis courts: two with Har-Tru surfaces and one asphalt court. Tennis instructions and tournaments are happening throughout the summer so Members are recommended to call ahead for court reservations.

Swimming

slide

The MIYC swimming facilities include a large roped-in swimming area off the northern side of the main dock which includes access stairs, a swimming raft and a slide. A small sandy beach provides a place for small children to perfect their swimming skills until they are ready for the “deep-end”. Our swim team competes against other local Yacht Clubs for summer bragging right, so members should come out and enjoy the fun. Remember, No life guard is on duty, so swimmers and their parents are responsible for their own safety.

All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while on Club premises. Children under 10 must be supervised at all times while playing on the dock, swing-set or playscape. Junior Club members and their guests who are under 21 years of age must be accompanied by an adult over 25 after sunset.
